Rice Now Contaminated With Mercury 21 July 2010
A study published in the June 2010 edition of the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health has found that rice in China is now heavily contaminateed with methyl-mercury.
Take home message: Look what we are doing to our planet! This is the home our children have to live in. We are burning so much coal that our waterways are becoming severely contaminated with methyl-mercury. The Obama administration has called mercury in the environment our number one environmental problem. There is now so much mercury in some water-ways in China that rice grown in that water has replaced fish as the highest food source of methyl-mercury. That’s why proceeds from the sale of my spring water go to the Worldwide Fund For Nature and why all of us need to be taking steps to reduce our body burden of heavy metals.
