Raw Cacoa Good for the Brain as well as the Heart 8 May 2010
A study published in the May 2010 edition of the Journal of Cerebral Blood Flow Metabolism has shown that flavanols from raw cacoa minimise brain damage caused by a stroke.
Take home message: In my opinion, the 3 essential nutrients for heart health are fermented cod liver oil, raw cacoa and pomegranate. I make sure I have all 3 every day. Raw cacoa as either raw chocolate or powdered in a smoothie and pomegranate in my morning vegetable juice. Its important to remember that because vascular disease is a systemic illness, I’m not only protecting my heart but also reducing my risk of stroke.
