MTHFR Mutation and Folic Acid 13 May 2015

Good summary on the MTHFR mutation. If we avoid synthetic folic acid and juice lots of vegetables to get lots of folate….then it’s no problem. Fresh vegetables are high in folate. Folic acid is oxidised (rusted) folate. It doesn’t occur in nature. Eating lots of burgers and chowing down on white bread fortified with folic acid and there will be a problem.
If there was an increased risk of spina bifida in children if the mothers didn’t get enough folate from vegetables…I could never work out why they were encouraged to eat a folic acid tablet rather than more vegetables. Probably the same reason we are encouraged to ingest fluoride rather than eat less processed food and use essential oils on our gums. Nature does it best.
As Archibald Macleigh once said, “The dissenter is every human being at those times of his life when he resigns momentarily from the herd and thinks for himself.”
