Live a life of extraordinary health, vitality & longevity

Dire Consequences of Social Isolation 20 June 2016

Mass shootings and social unrest dominate the news. There seems to be something fundamentally wrong with the world at the moment.
We seem to be in a perpetual winter of discontent.
And that is reflected in escalating violence, drug use and mental illness.
Looking at the macro-picture and comparing how homo sapiens evolved to how we live now might offer some explanation.
Self-determination theory suggests that we all need 3 things to be content:
1. A need to feel competent at what we do.
2. A need to feel authentic in our lives and
3. A need to feel connected to others.

The lives that many of us now live have put those needs at risk. Many now live alone in small apartments, working 12 hour days to pay the bills and without a clear purpose in life.
A study in the Journal of Affective Disorders concluded that “In effect, humans have dragged a body with a long hominid history into an overfed, malnourished, sedentary, sunlight-deficient, sleep deprived, competitive, inequitable and socially isolating environment with dire consequences.”
A great summary of the problems.

1. Intermittent fasting.
2. Food with medicine and stress activated nutrients.
3. Move more.
4. Get out into the sun.
5. Ensure 6-8 hours of restful sleep including the key hours of 10-2.
6. Be a caretaker of the earth, not a parasite.
7. Find a tribe of like minded people and hang out with them. Snap chat and Facebook are not tribes.
More to come on this over the next few weeks.

“Our modern society is engaged in publishing and decorating the cage in which man is imprisoned.”
